The Consultancy Buyers Forum is a knowledge hub that enables buyers of consulting services (whatever role they may play in the project or purchasing decision) to share their own experiences and to learn from the good practice of others. The Forum was created by Paul Vincent and he chaired all activities between its formal launch in September 2012 and January 2016.

The initiative is sponsored by the Management Consultancies Association but it has an independent voice in the marketplace.

On 1st February 2016 Chris Hudson and Tom Archer were appointed as the new co-Chairs and they now head an Advisory Group that contains experienced practitioners from both the buy-side and the sell-side. The Advisory Group are available to provide situational support to Forum members and they are also responsible for overseeing the ongoing programme of events and associated activities.

The overriding aim of the Consultancy Buyers Forum is to help organisations maximise the value of their consulting expenditure. To support this goal the Forum has created this Blueprint website, a ‘one stop shop’ of advice, information and guidance on how to effectively define consultancy needs; select the right firm; contract most appropriately; ensure that all desired outcomes are achieved and then finally to evaluate performance once an engagement has completed.

“Using the Blueprint was the best thing I’ve done. It is such an easy model to follow – it doesn’t necessarily give me the answers but the questions to ask. I know it’s geared towards buying consultancy but it’s so easy to implement I now use it in other professional services too. It has really made a difference to the value our organisation achieves”

Julia Lonsdale, Category Manager

Access to the Blueprint content is freely available to anyone who has an interest in buying or selling consultancy services. If you are a registered member of the Forum then you can additionally participate in a range of networking and information sharing events.
